Founded in 1973 as the Gary Rugby Club.  The Exiles proudly call Hobart, Indiana home.  We strive to embody the true gentlemanly spirit of rugby both on-field and off.

As we look forward, we are excited to further our work in building relationships with our surrounding communities in NW Indiana as well as being good stewards to all communities we have the opportunity to visit.

The purpose of the Club is to promote the competitive amateur sport of rugby at both the adult and youth levels; to develop players for local, national, and international play; to develop referees for local officiating, and to promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, and brotherhood and sisterhood in a family-friendly environment; provide a positive image of rugby through our actions; and contribute to the welfare of our community through service and support.

We are members of the Chicago Area Rugby Football Union (CARFU) as well as members of USA Rugby, which is the national governing body of rugby in the United States.

We participate in the Spring and Fall 15’s seasons with CARFU and, in the summer, members of the club participate in tournaments in the Midwest playing 7’s - which is the format that will be played in the 2016 Summer Olympics. Our home pitch is proudly located at the Hobart Soccer and Rugby field, 110 E. Old Ridge Road, across from Festival Park. Our Members come from many cities throughout NWI and we have had players from other countries including: South Africa, Japan, England, Ireland, Scotland and Argentina. Two members of the club have gone on and played at the national level.
